Gastrointestinal and hepatic pathology is an area in which DHM holds a high and longstanding reputation.

‘The Gastrointestinal and Hepatic Pathology Group’ includes more than 30 histopathologists, led by Dr Geoffrey Hall, Dr Robyn Levingston and Dr Elizabeth Sinclair.

From gastritis to proctitis, inflammatory bowel disease to cholecystitis, hepatitis to pancreatitis, the spectrum of disorders of the gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is broad. Correspondingly, the number, diversity and complexity of GIT-related investigations are considerable. DHM is able to offer a full range of testing, including microbiology, immunoserology, biochemistry, molecular pathology, genetics and histopathology/cytopathology, necessary for the investigation of GIT disorders.

DHM has a team approach to pathology investigation and reporting, with the group of pathologists having a broad range of experience and understanding. This ensures high-quality reports that encompass the latest clinical and pathological information and guidelines.

DHM can provide referring doctors with structured and image-enhanced reports that include diagrams and microscopic images, clearly outlining relevant pathological findings. These can serve as a visual tool to help doctors explain histopathology results and improve patient understanding.
