Dr Jennifer Roberts is a graduate of the University of Queensland and undertook her specialty training at the Royal Brisbane and the Royal Women's Hospitals, obtaining her Fellowship of the Royal College in 1993. Since that time, she has worked in both hospital and private practice and, for the last 25 years, has specialised in gynaecological histopathology and cytopathology. Her long-term diagnostic and research interests centre on HPV-related disease of the anus and lower female genital tract. Dr Roberts serves on the Board of the International Anal Neoplasia Society (IANS) and is a regular speaker at IANS meetings. She is involved in a number of NHMRC and Cancer Council-funded trials, exploring the natural history of HPV-associated disease of the anal canal and perianus and the potential efficacy of a cytology screening program to prevent anal cancer. Dr Roberts is also participating in clinical trials of treatment for anal precancerous lesions. She served for nine years as a member of the executive committee of the Australia and New Zealand Vulvovaginal Society and continues a keen interest in promoting clinico-pathological dialogue to enhance appropriate use of laboratory testing in the management of vulval disease. She is a frequent speaker at local and national meetings and, with a strong commitment to teaching, has been involved in many workshops and tutorials, both within Australia and internationally.
