Dr Harini Narayanappa graduated from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in 2008. She pursued specialist training in pathology at Apollo Hospitals under the National Board of Examinations and was awarded the Diplomate of National Board (DNB) in 2013. After moving to Australia in 2014, Dr Narayanappa completed her Australian Medical Council examinations and residency at Concord Hospital in tissue pathology. She furthered her training in anatomical pathology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, rotations in neuropathology at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, paediatric pathology at the Children’s Hospital at Westmead, and a final year training at Westmead Hospital. Dr Narayanappa’s academic pursuits culminated in receiving her Fellowship from the Royal College of Pathologists of Australasia (RCPA) in 2019, when she was also awarded The Barbara Williams Cytopathology Memorial Prize for the best overall paper in the examinations. At this time, she commenced as a Consultant Histopathologist at a large private pathology practice in Sydney. Between 2018 and 2022, she was involved in a University of Sydney research project titled ‘Whole Genome sequencing on head and neck cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma and comparative analysis of non-metastatic primaries versus primaries that have never metastasized’. Dr Narayanappa has special interest in dermatopathology, gastrointestinal pathology, molecular pathology, breast pathology and registrar training. She joined Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology in 2023.
