A University of Sydney graduate, Dr Leo Feain obtained Australian and English postgraduate pathology degrees in both general pathology and histopathology. He has been a pioneering force in private pathology in Sydney, beginning as a solo private pathologist in 1961. Dr Feain established the Feain and Roche Pathology practice in 1966, then in 1971 the Feain, Lynch, McDonald, Roche practice. Two other pathologists, Dr Frances Hanly and Dr Denis Moir, joined the practice, which in 1987 became Hanly Moir Pathology. Dr Feain has held a number of consultant appointments at private and public hospitals as well as university teaching posts. He has an ongoing interest and expertise in all areas of pathology, but concentrates his time in the sub-discipline of histopathology.
