Garry graduated from the University of New South Wales in 1979 and was trained as a general pathologist at Repatriation General Hospital, Concord. He was subsequently the Director of Central West Pathology Services; based in Orange, until 2002. He has worked with Barratt & Smith Pathology since then. Garry works predominantly as a general histopathologist, but still maintains interest in haematology and chemical pathology.
