After graduating from the University of Sydney, Dr Elizabeth Bernal worked as a resident at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, the Hospital Saint Louis in Paris and at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital in London. She then settled with her husband in Colombia, South America, where she completed her training in internal medicine at the University of Rosario and worked as a clinical haematologist for 10 years. She returned to Australia in 1985 and obtained her Fellowship in Pathology while at Westmead and Liverpool hospitals, before joining Douglass Pathology in 1989. Dr Bernal is available for consultation in all areas of haematology. Dr Bernal has a special interest in flow cytometry and was a participant in the 2006 Bethesda International Consensus on Flow Cytometryic Immunophenotyping of Haematoymhoid Neoplasia. Dr Bernal is the Medical Director of the Douglass Hanly Moir laboratory at Westmead Private Hospital, and welcomes enquiries from doctors in that area and from staff at the hospital, regarding any aspect of our service.
