Special interests: Neuropathology, breast pathology, gastrointestinal pathology and cytopathology
Dr Abha Malik graduated from the University of Delhi, India, in 1996, followed by a Doctorate of Medicine in pathology in 1999. Dr Malik received the ‘Kusum Pandit’ award for her research on cytology of leprosy, has several publications in cytopathology and breast pathology and undertook a visiting Fellowship in Breast Pathology at Sunnybrook and Women’s Hospital, Toronto, Canada in 2002. Subsequently, Dr Malik joined ‘Oridis’, a biomedical company affiliated to the University of Graz, Austria, working towards developing novel molecular and therapeutic targets for cancer treatment, using tissue microarray technology. She moved to Australia in 2004, where she worked at Royal Brisbane Hospital and obtained her Fellowship of the RCPA in 2007, before joining Douglass Hanly Moir Pathology. Her special areas of interest include cytology, breast pathology, infectious diseases, soft tissue tumours and haematopathology.
