Description:
Barratt & Smith Pathology, regional NSW's premier pathology services provider, has a part-time (20 hours, plus holiday relief and including a Saturday roster) vacancy for a Pathology Collectors in the Orange area. 
We are seeking candidates to join our pathology team to perform venepuncture and basic medical tests, such as ECGs and Holter monitoring. Previous collection experience is preferable but not essential. 
If you have the ability and desire to provide excellent medical care to patients, the skills to liaise with doctors in a professional environment, great organisational abilities, a current driver's licence and your own car (some travelling is involved), we can offer you a stimulating position within a supportive team environment. 

To be considered for this position it is essential that you hold a current First Aid certificate (HLTAID003) and have completed vaccinations, prior to interview. 

All healthcare workers are required to be able to provide evidence of protection according to the following table. Acceptable evidence of protection includes a written record of vaccination signed by the provider and/or serological confirmation of protection (This does not include a statutory declaration).

Infectious Disease

Acceptable Evidence to Demonstrate Protection

Hepatitis B

Documented evidence of a completed, age appropriate, course of Hepatitis B vaccine and documented evidence of anti-HB>10mIU/ml; or documented evidence of past Hepatitis infection (anti-HBc).

Six weeks after you have had your last Hepatitis vaccination, you must have a blood test for Hep B Ab and send a copy of the result to the training department as proof of your vaccination status.

(as a minimum - documented evidence of commencement required at interview)

Diptheria

Tetanus

Pertussis

Documented evidence of dose of adult dTpa vaccine.

Measles

Mumps

Rubella

As a pathology collector you may be required to collect blood in specialised clinical settings such as oncology or neonatal wards that have patients with compromised immune systems, therefore we require documented evidence of two doses of MMR vaccine at least one month apart; or documented evidence of positive IgG or Measles and Mumps, and a Rubella titre >30.
Varicella History of chickenpox; or documentation of physiciandiagnosed shingles; or documented evidence of a positive varicella IgG; or documented evidence of age appropriate varicella vaccination.
